About the Event
What began as a humble boot sale in 1998 has blossomed into one of the South Island's most beloved community events, attracting thousands annually. The fair features 100-150 quality craft and trade stalls showcasing handmade goods, local produce, artisan products, and unique treasures. The massive white elephant sale is legendary (arrive early for the best finds!), while children enjoy games, rides, bouncy castles, and face painting. Delicious food from local vendors keeps everyone fueled throughout the day. All-day entertainment on multiple stages features local musicians, performers, and community groups. This is a major fundraiser for Te Koromiko Swannanoa School, with proceeds supporting educational programs and facilities. The fair embodies North Canterbury's rural values: community connection, support for local, and genuine country hospitality. It's where families reconnect with country life, discover local talent, and celebrate the simple joys of a traditional country fair.
