Hawarden A&P Show

Since 1906, the Hawarden A&P Show has been bringing the Hurunui community together for a day of rural celebration and agricultural excellence. What makes this show truly special is that it's run entirely by volunteers from all walks of community life - farmers, business people, teachers, students, retirees, and families working together. The show features comprehensive equestrian events including show jumping, showing classes, and riding competitions. Livestock competitions showcase the finest sheep, cattle, and other animals from across the district. The home industries pavilion displays exceptional produce, vegetables, art, baking, handicrafts, and preserves. Trade sites feature machinery displays, rural supplies, and local businesses. Throughout the day, the show ring hosts grand parades, sheepdog trials, and traditional competitions. This is genuine "Hurunui putting Hurunui on show" - a full day celebration where agricultural tradition meets community spirit, all organized by dedicated volunteers keeping over 117 years of tradition alive.
