George St Market, Dunedin

Over 200 stalls line the beautifully redeveloped George Street, showcasing local artisans, handmade crafts, contemporary products, and artisan food producers from across New Zealand (80% from Otago). Six international street performers fresh from the Auckland Buskers Festival dazzle crowds with fire artistry, circus acts, magic, and comedy. The new Eats and Beats zone on Bath Street features two live music stages, 20+ food vendors, cocktails from The Wayfarer, Amigos, and The Swan, creating a dedicated food and drink precinct with seating that runs until 8pm. The market includes a Community Stall zone for local fundraising groups, seven local entertainers on the main stage, and dedicated kids zones. Free Orbus buses run 10am-4pm to support the event. This is the evolution of the beloved Thieves' Alley Market, now occupying Dunedin's stunning $110 million upgraded retail quarter complete with NZ's first in-street play space, 90 new trees, and universally accessible design.
